About Us
The Uttar Pradesh Volleyball Association (UPVA) is the official governing body for volleyball activities in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Established under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, UPVA plays a crucial role in promoting, organizing, and managing volleyball at all levels across the state.
Our Mission:
To develop and promote volleyball as a major sport in Uttar Pradesh by providing professional guidance, training opportunities, and organizing tournaments that nurture talent at grassroots and elite levels.

Late Dr. (Major) N.D. Sharma

Born in 1923, Major Sharma pursued a life dedicated to education, national service, and sports. A scholar, soldier, and statesman, his impact on Uttar Pradesh volleyball remains unmatched.
Contribution in Education
As founding Head of Commerce at Christ Church College, he mentored generations until 1984. Affiliated with over 22 universities and bodies like ICAI, IGNOU, and UPSC, he authored 16 textbooks still in use.
National Service
A decorated soldier and patriot, Major Sharma served with valor in the Indian Army. His discipline and leadership deeply influenced his civil and sports engagements.
Legacy in Volleyball
As Ex. General Secretary of U.P.V.A., he elevated volleyball across Uttar Pradesh. His tireless work in organizing tournaments, mentoring players, and promoting the sport is remembered fondly.
